Finished with long off-season ….Cats ready for the regular season opener this Friday

With the long process of off-season conditioning, summer skates, summer tournaments, tryouts and preseason scrimmages all in the books the 20022-2023 Northview Wildcat JV and Varsity teams are prepared for the season opener this Friday night vs Shaker Heights at Tam-o-Shanter.

In all 34 student athletes will compete on the ice for the Wildcats this season. The Junior Varsity coming off a very successful season in 22? returns a nice core of players with some new additions to its freshman class.

Freshman Goalie Gavin Pelleck will be joined by freshman Defenseman Landon Woodbury and Caleb Risher and freshman forwards Henry Cook and Jack Nowak.

Sophomores on the JV include Defenseman Nathan Knapp who will taxi with the Varsity and Noah Kuli along with taxi Forward Josh Miller & Trent Lewis.

Junior Goaltender Ayden Crandall is joined by fellow juniors Jonny Rove and Ben Graeff on the Taxi squad. Forwards Skyler Krien and Keegan McVay round out the Junior Class.

Seniors Sam Tittle, Danny Ordorica, Logan Cole & Derek Jamieson will be counted on for both on ice and off ice leadership and mentoring of the younger players. They will also look to take the experience they have gained to earn a chance to join the varsity throughout the season.

The Varsity will be led by an incredibly strong group of seniors. It will start from the net out as Reigning 1st team all-league and 2nd team all-state goalie Austin Nowak returns coming off a great junior season in which he tied the school record with 8 shutouts. Seniors Co-Captain Landon Elliott and Alternate Captain Riley Ames come off of league honors their junior season ans head up a strong core of Defenseman that will also include Fellow Seniors Mason Hacker and Zach Denny, Sophomore Cole Ames and Freshman Brennen Wiltshire.

The Forwards will see a blend of old and new as Senior Co-Captain CJ Lehman, Alternate Captain Benny Seals, senior Tryston Harrell and Senior Mason Crandell return. They along with Ames and Elliott make up the top 6 point producers from last year’s squad. The offense will be bolstered with the addition of Senior Drake Symbolik. Symbolik played the his 1st 3 high school seasons with Little Caesars AAA and brings a strong offensive presence. A line of Juniors Keegan Draper, Liam Deising and Sam Himmel along with Sophomore Reece Knapp will round out the core of the Varsity lineup. A strong showing over 2 weekends of scrimmages have the cats poised to contend in a tough NHC Red division and a strong slate of out of conference and tournament games.
