The Final week of the regular season promises to have plenty of excitement for the Wildcats and their fans! With league games versus the St. Johns Titans on Friday and Findlay on Saturday on Senior night both at Tamo the Cats can still claim a share of a league title!! Friday the Cats will have a fill it up game versus SJJ @ 6:30 before hosting Findlay on Senior night Saturday @ 5:00. The JV will also play SJJ and Findlay 5:00 and 3:30 respectfully.
Northview Lost a close game to SJJ as a furious 3rd period comeback fell just short in a 6-5 loss back in early December. The Cats defeated Findlay by the same score of 6-5 last week and sit at 2-2 in league play entering this final week. Northview needed the final 3 goals last week after being down 5-3 early in the 3rd period to steal a win in Findlay. Northview traded goals with Findlay as Dougie Carter, Griffin Muir and Jared Barfell gave the Cats 1 goal leads only to see the Trojans tie the game each time. 2 goals early in the 3rd period by Findlay threatened any chance of a league title before the Cats stormed back for the win. Junior Jeffrey Wood started the comeback with a PP goal to cut the lead to 1. Teddy Bugert then Tied the game just minutes later when he converted off a 2-1 rush with fellow senior Trevor Klee near the 5 minute mark of the period. Klee would finish off the comeback just over 2 minutes later as he roofed a shot short-side goal on the power play for the eventual game winner!
This past Saturday the Cats traveled up to Detroit and Clark Park for an outdoor winter classic versus Flint Davidson. Commemorative Jerseys with matching winter hats set the stage for all kinds of pompous circumstance! Unfortunately the Cats seemed more worried about their appearance than the game. From Coaches on down the execution was lackluster in a 7-2 loss. Senior Yaqub Elorra helped to salvage the day as his assist on Ethan Music’s goal gave him his 1st career point!
