JV and Varsity named as Cats kick off the 2020-2021 Pre-Season with Great optimism!!!

[EDIT]

The 2020-2021 Northview Wildcats completed tryouts for the season on November 1st and kicked off some game action this past weekend as 44 players, the most in program history, join this years team with great optimism for both squads.

Both teams will carry a few extra players this year with uncertainty surrounding sports amid the covid pandemic. And there is plenty of talent as Northview looks to contend within the NHC and across the state.

This past weekend the Varsity Cats started with a solid game vs Trenton Prep. The Cats looked dominant over the younger Trenton players on their way to a lopsided 10-1 win. A host of Cats saw their 1st game action in the Cats new look uniforms.

Saturday afternoon the Cats welcomed a group of alumni and fans to Tamo for a benefit game for Jackson Weis and his foundation. The Alumni showed the younger Cats a thing or two on the ice while the fans showed a few things themself in their support off of it. The Northview Family raised over $900 in donations for the Jackson Weis Athletic Achievement Foundation. If you were unable to make the game but would still like to make a donation, checks can be made out to JWAAF and sent to Waterford bank in Sylvania or Venmo donations can be made to @jacksonweisYAAF. Thanks to all the players and families for your support!!

Team Breakdowns:

The Varsity will return a solid nucleus of talent with Seniors David Crandall, Tyler Clem, Dougie Carter and Griffin Muir all receiving All-league mention following their Junior seasons. Dynamic center Camren Horvath joins the Cats for his 1st season and fellow Seniors Scotty Schwartz, Claire Ames, Evan Rosplohowski, David Younger and Nick Johnson provide additional leadership.

The Junior class received a big boost with the addition of Tucker Ludwig and Mikey Burton joining former teammate Josh Bisson who joined the Cats late last season. 2nd year Varsity member Noah Chevalier looks to build off a solid Sophomore seasons while Tyler Shoffer and Hayden Symbolik look to contribute solid minutes after having strong seasons with the JV in 2019-20. Other Juniors who will look to provide program depth include Brock Williamson and Josh Sprauer.

The Sophomore class is both large and talented with 16 total players spread across the 2 teams. Landon Elliott and Tryston Harrell return and look to take the next steps after solid freshman campaigns with the Varsity but it will be a host of incoming talent that will help provide secondary scoring, defense and goaltending. After taking every shot the past 2 seasons, Tyler Clem will welcome Sophomore Austin Nowak to share the workload in the crease. Playing AAA hockey up north the past few seasons Austin will add incredible talent and make for a solid duo to the Cats goaltending department! fellow transfer forward Benny Seals won NHC rookie of the year while playing for Anthony Wayne before moving to Sylvania. Former Sylvania Northstar travel players CJ Lehman, Mason Crandell and Riley Ames all add to the talent pool with the varsity. Defenseman Mason Hacker, Zach Denny and Derek Jamieson provide depth with the JV

The Junior Varsity Cats are not struggling for numbers or talent either. With 10 new faces joining a returning core the JV looks to compete night in and night out. Freshman include Liam Diesing, Keegan Draper, Drew Schnorberger, Ben Graeff and Keegan McVay. Sophomores Mason Hacker, Danny Ordorica, Connor Huffman, Same Tittle, Zach Denny, Derek Jamieson, Aiden Carter, Lexy Grohnke, and Logan Cole . Juniors Josh Sprauer, Greg Vavrinek, Max Faulkner Brendan Shadle and Brock Williamson. And Seniors Hunter Reed and Brad Beaver make up the Junior Varsity lineup.
