by Coach Elliott on December 9, 2022

The Northview Wildcats opened up the 2022-23 regular season with a win this past Friday night over Shaker Heights by a final score of 3-1 to start the season at 1-0.

The Cats got on the board late in the opening period when Senior Benny Seals scored off the rush for a 1-0 lead. Seniors Drake Symbolik and Landon Elliott assisted on the goal. Northview would push the lead to 2 in the 2nd as Junior Sam Himmel scored his career 1st and eventual game winner with Elliott picking up his 2nd assist. The Cats would make it 3-0 early in the 3rd when Seals converted again with a feed from Symbolik and fellow senior Riley Ames.

That was plenty for senior Netminder Austin Nowak. He unfortunately lost his shutout bid with just a few minutes left in the 3rd period but stopped 24 of 25 to preserve his 1st win of the season!

The Cats Jv team also came up with a win as they defeated the Raiders JV squad by a final of 8-3. Henry Cook led the way for the Cats with a hat trick and Jonny Rove added a pair of goals. Sophomore Trent Lewis and Josh Miller along with Freshman Jack Nowak rounded out the scoring. Sophomore Defenseman Nathan Knapp added 3 assist and Freshman Goalie Gavin Pelleck picked up the win.
