Unbeaten in their past 5 games the Cats look to build on the momentum in Meadville!

The Wildcat icers picked up 3 out of a possible 4 points this past weekend with a win and a tie in league play. After a 3 to 2 overtime win on Friday night versus St. Johns, the Cats tied Bowling Green for the 2nd time in a week 2 to 2 on Sunday.  The Cats now have a 5 game unbeaten streak and will head to Meadville Pennsylvania this weekend for the Bulldog MLK tournament.

This past Friday evening the Cats played one of the better game of the season in a 3 to 2 overtime win over arch rival St. Johns. Things didn’t look good early as the Titans found the net in the 1st for a 1 to 0 lead. Northview would score the games next 2 goals however to jump ahead 2 to 1 after 2 periods. Junior Alex Syring started the scoring off a nice individual effort to tie the game at 1 and then senior Zach Galecki out hustled 3 Titans for a shorthanded effort in the 2nd period. The game looked like it would end that way, but a miscue late in the 3rd allowed for a Titan goal off a 2 on 1 rush to tie it in the last minute and send it to OT. The Cats wouldn’t be denied as Junior Jared Hilou and the Wildcats were beneficiaries of a fortunate bounce off a shin-pad for a much needed 3 to 2 win just over a minute into the extra session. Preston Due stopped 24 shots to earn the win

Sunday the Cats once again gave up an early goal as BG scored on their 1st shot of the game over 6 minutes into the contest. However Junior Jarred Wulf shored up the nets for much of the rest of the game. Junior Reed Kross and Senior Josh Koback scored for a 2 to 1 lead but BG tied it late in the 2nd. A scoreless 3rd period and overtime would mean the 2 teams would skate to a draw for the 2nd time in a week with a final score 2 to 2. Wulf made 34 saves in net for the Cats.

Northview will open up round robin play in Meadville on Friday night with a 9 o’clock game versus Bethel Park. Games with North Hills and St. Ed’s will follow on Saturday with a possible semi-final and finals berth on Sunday. Good Luck Cats and keep the momentum going!!
