After traveling to Cleveland 2 times and a league game during the holiday break Northview heads into the second half of the season sitting at 6 wins 7 losses and 3 ties. Similar to last year when Northview stumbled out of the gates, The Cats will look for marked improvement over the final months in hopes of gaining some momentum for a league and playoff push.

The Cats got off to a rocky start over in Strongsville at the Padua invitational as a state championship game rematch with St. Ignatius was one-sided. A flurry of 3rd period goals broke open a 3 to 1 game as the Ignatius Wildcats handed the Northview Wildcats a 7 to 1 defeat. That Saturday Northview secured wins over Padua and Lake Catholic by identical 3 to 1 scores. Sunday was a different story, 5 unanswered goals from St. Edwards led to another ugly defeat. Zach Galecki registered a nice weekend picking up 3 of the Cats 7 goals. Adam Felser, Zach Doner, Lars Culver and Brendan Pierson also scored. Goalies Preston Due and Jarred Wulf each picked up a win.

Northview headed to Kent State between the holiday’s for the Walsh Jesuit tournament. Offense was still on low as the Cats scored just 1 goal combined in single goal losses to Dublin Jerome and St. Charles. The Cats rebounded with a pair of wins to finish off the tournament versus Hudson 3 to 2 and Rockey River 4 to 1. Ian Clement scored a hat-trick against River as Northview scored 4 times in a 5 minute stretch.

The Wildcats returned to league play to finish off the holiday stretch with a game at Tamo versus Bowling Green. Trailing 1 to 0 late in the 3rd junior winger Alex Syring scored off a rebound to pull the Cats even at 1. The 2 teams would however skate to a draw as neither team was able to find the back of the net in overtime.

Northview will return to league play this Friday and Sunday. Friday night the Cats take on St. Johns before a rematch with Bowling Green down in BG on Sunday
