The Northview Wildcats hosted their annual Cold Turkey Thanksgiving showcase this past weekend at Tam-o-Shanter. 16 teams 8 in the Varsity A and 8 in the Varsity B divisions battled it out over 3 days in the hybrid scoring showcase where each game was worth 5 points. In the end the Varsity team finished 3rd out of 8 teams after 2 wins and 2 close losses.

On Friday the Cats opened up the regular season with a convincing 6-2 win over Gilmour Academy. Senior Sam Himmel scored the seasons 1st goal while fellow senior Liam Diesing and Junior Chase BEan added a pair each. Sophomore Brennen Wiltshire added a goal and 2 assist and Senior goalie Ayden Crandall stopped 32 shots to pick up his 1st win of the season.

Saturday morning the Cats got on the board early and often in route to a 8-0 win over Trenton. Diesing and Bean were at it again as the senior Captain scored a hattrick and Bean and Senior Keegan Draper chipped in with a pair of goals each. Junior Holden Brighty scored his career 1st While Sophomore defesnman Landon Woodbury and Carter Tillman each added a pair of helpers in the win. Crandall starting his 2nd game of the season notched the shutout on 18 saves.

That evening was a great game with the Dayton Stealth. Freshman Goaltender Parker Palcisko got his career 1st start and was masterful in stopping 38 of 38 while also picking up an assist on Beans 2nd period PP goal. Unfortunately that was all the offense the Cats could muster and fell for the 1st time in a 2-1 loss.

The Cats looked to rebound and finish the weekend strong in the showcases final game on Sunday. Another great back and forth game saw the Cats drop a heart breaker as Erie Prep scored with just a second left in the game for a come from behind 3-2 win. Freshman Liam Elliott set up a pair of goals to give him 5 assist on the young season and Brighty and Bean gave the Cats a 1 goal lead on 2 occasions. Unfortunately freshman Gavin Smith’s stellar 1st career start in which he stopped 34 shots went for knot in the buzzer beating loss.

The JV Cats also showed very well with a split squad playing as JV Yellow and JV Black. The black squad finished 2nd overall with a 3 and 1 record and the yellow team battled through some injuries and a fw players lost to go 1-2-1 overall.

Sophomore Jackson Nowak (10 points) and Noah Ellis along with Trent Lewis (9 points each) and Boston Kopke (6 points) on the backend led the way for the Black team while Sophomore Zac Crandall and Freshman Colten Czubek (6 points each) paced the gold squad.
