by Coach Elliott on January 2, 2008

The Northview Wildcats improved to 12-o overall with a sweep of the Padua Invitational tournament. On Friday evening the Cats squared off against state power St. Edwards. No Northview team had ever defeated the Eagles, including 3 losses in the state tournament. Craig Trego would get the honors of being the first goalie to beat them, 3-2. The next morning the Cats would face University School. Trailing 1-0 after 2 periods and again 2-1 mid way thru the 3rd, Northview would strike for 2 quick goals for the 3-2 win. Brandon Snead would net the game winning goal. That evening Northview finally got a win over Padua. After and early Padua goal made it 1-0, the Cats would roll off the next 6 straight for the decisive 6-2 win. Shane Wheatley scored his first career goal as all 3 forward lines worked extremely hard. The defense helped Trego to another strong win. With enough points to advance to the Championship game the Cats would finish off round robin play against Lake Catholic. Cody Ramm got the first start of his career and his first win, 5-2. After only a 2 hour break the Cats would again face St. Eds for the Championship. Northview would not be denied as Trego held the Eagles down in the 3-1 win. Tyler Cook looked like a man against boys all weekend as his tenacious fore-check epitomized the Wildcats play. The Cats played as a team from player 1 to 18; however they did take home some individual awards. Tyler Puhl earned defenseman of the tournament, Craig Trego earned goalie of the Tourney and Brandon Snead earned Tournament MVP.
