The 2018-19 Northview Wildcats look for a more consistent play as the Calendar turns to 2019. They have improved in so many areas of the game over the year but lapses during critical moments of the game and turnovers in critical spots on the ice have led to losses and blown leads.

They kicked of the New Year with a much improved effort in a 3-2 win over the Cleveland (Shhh don’t tell anyone we are the St. Ignatius) Wildcats this past Friday evening. A dominating performance every place accept the scoreboard was on display as Northview finished with a commanding 47-16 advantage in shots. 2 bad giveaways and strong Goaltending from St. Ignatius , I mean Cleveland, kept the game much closer than play indicated.  Senior Jared Barfell was on fire! his Hattrick provided all the offense and Tyler Clem and strong team defense made it stand up as the Cats finally held on for a 1 goal win.

Saturday evening the Cats looked to make it 3 wins in a row over a strong Bedford team. Unfortunately the Cats play was undisciplined, for really the 1st time all season, in taking 35 total Penalty minutes. Bedford used a 23 to 6 minute advantage in power play time to hang around and eventually tie the game 3-3 with just 22 seconds left. It was another reminder of consistency and discipline as Northview was dominant at 5-5 play and held a 38-21 shot advantage. Barfell scored again and Senior Devon Dohanos had a pair of goals to pace the offense.

Northview will look to get back in the win column versus rival St. Francis this Friday evening at Tamo. Game time is set for 6:30 following the JV game @5:00
