“If you play high school Hockey you can’t go anywhere!!!”

by Coach Elliott on November 6, 2014

If you ask around to those who snub high school hockey for AAA, juniors or even AA bantam and midget hockey, some reasons you will hear is “high school hockey is Garbage”, or “you can’t go anywhere after high school hockey”. As far back as the early 80’s when Bob Napierala and Jeff Ladrow went on to Ohio State… the 90’s with Steve Ott, Justin Kearns, Mike Jones and Dusty Monasmith and continuing into the 2000’s with Larry Willard, Brett Molnar, Tim Hurst and Dalton Carter just to name a few, Northview players have been having as much success at the “next levels” as any organization around. This past September the Cats added another feather to the hat as 2006 Graduate Alden Hirschfeld skated with most of our favorite players in the annual red-white game at Redwings training camp. After graduation and captaining the Miami Redhawks during his Senior season Alden is now in his 3rd professional season and 2nd in the Redwings organization. He will begin this season with the Wings top affiliate in Grand Rapids where he will play for highly touted head coach Jeff Blashill. Grand Rapids will open their season on October 10th and 11th with a home and home weekend series with Lake Erie.  Congratulations and Good luck Alden as you continue to pursue your dreams!!!
