The Northview Wildcats took care of business in their opening game of the 2021 state playoffs with a 10-0 win over Whitmer. The Cats spreading the scoring around as 10 different Cats scored including the Career 1st from Tyler Shoffer and Claire Ames and the seasons 1st from Noah Chevalier.
Whitmer put up a strong fight and held the Cats to just a pair of goals in the 1st period. Benny Seals converted a pass from David Crandall and then Crandall scored a goal of his own to stake the Cats to the lead. Northview jumped all over the Panthers in the 2nd period with 7 unanswered tallies. The period was highlighted by Shoffer and Ames’ career 1st with the latter becoming the 3rd girl in program history to score a goal joining teammates David Crandall and Landon Elliott’s older sisters Maizy and Lauren. Noah Chevalier, CJ Lehman, Griffin Muir, Cam Horvath and Mikey Burton also scored in the 2nd frame.
The Cats finished off the game early as Senior Dougie Carter scored the final goal midway through the 3rd for the final score.
With the win the Cats will move on to the district semi-finals this coming Saturday evening vs Findlay. Game time is set for 7:00 PM Saturday. The teams split 3 games during the regular season. after skating to a 4-4 tie early Findlay secured a 4-3 OT win before the Cats avenged the loss with a 3-0 win on Senior night.
