The Wildcats moved to 4-0 in the NWHC with victories over Southview and Findlay this past weekend. On Friday the cats blanked Southview 5-0 and Saturday they traveled down to Findlay to earn a 5-1 win.
In the first game the Wildcats played a spirited Southview team. Northview would respond however as they jumped out to a 3-0 first period lead with 2 goals by Cody Bourland and a goal by Tyler Cook. Southview responded with a good effort in the second almost scoring into an open net. Northview would close out the cougars in the third period with goals by Hirschfeld and Thanasiu. Craig Trego played the first 2 periods before giving way to his lunch and Bobby McElheney in the 3rd.
Saturday night the Cats traveled to Findlay for their annual meeting in the house of pain. Northview would take command of the game with their speed and keep the Trojans on their heels for a majority of the night as they skated away with the 5-1 victory. Hirschfeld lead the way with a hat trick and Bourland and Erik Lavoy added a goal each. Bobby Mac made a couple of key saves with the game still in doubt to earn the win and push his record to 9.5 wins a tie and 0 losses. It was also a great night for the role players as T. Montieth, K. Hymore and C. Simon played perhaps their best game of the season. The defense was also on top of their games for the weekend as they welcomed Zac Pizza back to the lineup. N. Saenz, T. Puhl, E. Reynolds, J. Hymore, A. Thanasiu, Pizza and M. Moyer held Southview and Findlay to 27 shots combined while generating many scoring opportunities with their puck control and transition play.
