Cats take Cold Turkey

Tuesday, November 27th, 2007

The Northview Wildcats made it 6 championships in 6 years as host of the Thanksgiving Cold Turkey Holiday Tournament. The Cats defeated the Toledo Cherokee 9-4 in the championship game.
On Friday night the Cats opened up their 2007-08 season against the Cherokee. Carter Bourland and Brandon Snead each scored a hat trick and Bob Napierala chipped in with a goal in the 7-4 victory. Craig Trego made 34 saves in the win.
Saturday morning the Cats played the Mentor Cardinals. 3 More goals by Bourland, 1 by Snead and the first of the year from Mark Hall, who finished off a superb effort from Napierala for a short handed goal, provided enough offense as Trego played solid in the 5-1 win.
That evening the Cats faced off against the Trinity Trojans. The line of Bourland, Snead and Kyle Hymore kept it going in the 7-1 win. With his linemates feeding him the puck Bourland would light the lamp 5 times. Tyler Puhl would score 2 power play goals for the final.
In the Championship game it was a different day and the same story, too much Bourland, Snead and company. Bourland, Snead and Hall all scored a pair of gals and Puhl recorded a hat trick. Trego finished off the weekend going 4-0 to move closer to the all-time wins leader in Northview history.
On Saturday the Cats will open up League play against the Bowling Green Bobcats at Tam-O-Shanter.

Cats lineup ready for first test

Friday, November 9th, 2007

The Northview hockey program survived a summer like never before and will finally get to put it back on the ice when the 2007-2008 Cats host their first scrimmage on Saturday Morning versus Upper Arlington at 8. After a few high profile defections the Cats will look to a large and determined Senior class for leadership on and off the ice. Seniors Carter Bourland and Brandon Snead will lead the offensive Charge up front while Tyler Puhl, Eammon Reynolds and Goaltender Craig Trego will be in charge of keeping the opponents off the scoreboard. Seniors Tyler Cook and Christian Simon will also see an increased role as well as first year defenseman Evan Parr. Sophomore Mark Hall and Juniors Kyle Hymore and Bob Napierala have looked real strong during the off season and will look to take their games to the next level. Role Players Nile Culver, Shane Wheatley, Jordan Jones and Jake Thorton will look to chip in with solid minutes and hopefully a few goals as well. The Cats will get added help and leadership from a Senior line of Cody Booth, Drew Jackson and Shane Molnar along with Brian Killian and Sophomore Anthony Holley. Backup Goalies Cody Ramm and Matt Stevenson are working hard and will be ready if and when the Coaches call their names. After a summer of hard work and a reshaping of the team the Cats are cautiously optimistic that a solid season and hopeful return to a final four are in the future. Good luck Cats and let the games begin!
