Nolan Culver helped lead his Cats to 2 important League victories this past weekend as the Cats took a 2 point lead in the race for the regular season league title. Culver’s 4 goal performance on Friday led to a 6-0 win at BG and he added 2 more in the 3-2 win over Findlay. With a win next Saturday against St. Johns the Cats can claim at least a share of the regular season title. St. Francis plays Findlay and Bowling Green the final week and also sits with just 1 loss. The Cats clinched at least a 2nd place finish after the 2 wins. Northview has now finished in either 1st or 2nd place in league play for 6 consecutive years. They won the league title in 06′ and 08′ with 2nd place finishes in 07′, 09′ and 2010.

On Friday night it was the Nolan Culver show.  His 4 goals along with single markers from Ryan Laplante and Dalton Carter paced the way to a 6 to 0 win over Bowling Green. Culver opened the scoring just over 3 minutes into the game. Laplante pushed the lead to 2-0 before 3 straight from Culver near the end of the 1st till the early stages of the 2nd all but ended the game. Carter topped off the night mid-way through the 3rd for the final score.  Phil Bowles sealed it as he kept his remarkable play going. His 22 save shutout performance was his 6th shutout on the year. Bowles now trails Bobby McElheney in 2004 and Craig Trego in 2007 with 7 each for the single season mark for shutouts in team history.

On Saturday night the Cats returned home for a game versus Findlay. Culver added 2 more goals in the 1st to continue his torrid weekend and give the Cats a 2 to 1 lead after 1 period of play. Zach Felser hit on the powerplay to give the Cats a 3 to 1 lead and Austin Gryca made quality saves down the stretch to hold off the Trojans and give the Cats a hard faught 3 to 2 win. The 2 wins pushed the Cats overall record to 16-6-3 and 6-1 in league play. They will finish off regular season play this Saturday as they go for at least a share of the league title versus St. Johns at Tam-o-Shanter. Game time is scheduled for 7 pm so come out and support the Cats!!
