Cats split a pair over the weekend

by Coach Elliott on December 11, 2006

A bunch of first happened over the weekend. The first loss of the season, the first league loss, and the first loss at Tam-o Shanter since the 2005 District final to St. Francis.
The Northview Wildcats had been on a roll like no other in team history. But St. Johns didn’t care about any of those accomplishments. 2 goals in both the 2nd and 3rd periods left the Cats on the wrong end of a 4-1 score. Brandon Snead was able to muster up the lone goal for the Cats. Many other scoring Opportunities were denied by St. Johns goaltending , Shot wide, or hit the post. The loss dropped the Cats record to 5-1 overall and 1-1 in league play.

Sunday afternoon the Cats rebounded with a 5-2 victory over Upper Arlington to move their record to 6-1. Single goals by Matt Cook, Brent Bain, Ian Kelsey, Brandon Snead and Kyle Hymore’s first of the year provided the offense. Craig Trego turned aside 22 shots for his 6th victory of the season.

Northview will get the holiday tournament season underway when they travel to Cleveland for the Padua Invitational this weekend. The will face off versus the best in Cleveland. Friday night they play perennial state power St. Edwards. Saturday the Cats will have a rematch against final four foes University School and Padua, and Sunday they finish with Lake Catholic. A Championship game would also be possible depending on how the Cats do in the first 4 games.

Good Luck Cats!
