Cats Roller coaster season continues in Meadville

by Coach Elliott on January 20, 2009

If nothing else this season the Wildcats are consitent in being inconsistent. Their up and down roller coaster of a season continued in Meadville Pennsylvania this past weekend with a win sandwiched in between two bad losses.

In the first game the Cats were handled by Pennsylvania power LaSalle 8-2.The lone bright spots were goals from Anthony Holley and Matt Duvall. Holley was able to find the net of a nice pass from Jordan Keefe, while Duvall connected on the power play.

The next morning the Cats would get some revenge on Mt. Lebanon. Northview lost an earlier meeting 7 to 1 to Lebanon and watched as players performed some goal celebrations to rub it in the Cats face. After falling behind 2 to 0 and then 3 to 1 the Cats rebounded for a nice 4-3 win. Tyler Harding started the scoring for the Cats with a power play goal. Matt Duvall’s goal brought the Cats to within 3-2 after 2 periods of play, and the Cats would win it in the third. First senior Jake Thornton tied the score at 3 and then while on a 5 on 3 advantage, Kyle Hymore one-timed a pass from Harding for the game winner. Matt Stevenson played solid in goal for the win.

That evening the Cats tried to build off the momentum from the Lebanon win only to lose badly to St. Edwards. Nothing went right and after a solid start, which included a shot off the post and some near misses, the Cats would be on the short end of a 8-0 loss.

The Cats will try and get the roller coaster going back up the hill this weekend as they take on St. Francis Friday and Findlay Saturday in NHC play. Both games are at 7 O’Clock at Tam-o-Shanter.
