Cats on collision course with St. Johns again!!

by Coach Elliott on March 3, 2014

The Northview Wildcats and the St. Johns Titans will meet in the district finals for the 3rd consecutive year this satuday at 7 oclock at Tam-o-shanter with a berth in the frozen four at stake.  The previous 2 district finals were epic games with Northview claiming a 1 goal win in both 2012 and 2013.  This years game is shaping up to be much of the same.

The Cats will take on a Titans squad that has been ranked in the top 2 spots in the state poll for the entire season. The teams split the season series with SJJ taking the 1st game 7 to 3 and Northview winning later 4 to 3.

The Wildcats secured a spot in the final with a convincing 3 to 0 shutout win over Bowling Green. After falling twice in the past few weeks to BG, Northview came out and executed a perfect game plan that limited the Bobcats to just 14 shots on goal and very few quality scoring chances. Jake Koback scored twice in the 1st period and Northview never looked back. The Cats stiffled anything the Bobcats tried as the defense led by seniors Kooper Carter and Bailey Breitigam played possibly their best game of the season. Cody Estrel added an shorthanded insurance goal in the second for the final margin. That was more than enough for senior net-minder David Marsh who pitched a shutout.

Tickets are on sale at both the highschool and Tam-o and may sell out so get them early. Good luck Cats!!!!
