Cats go to 20-0 after 4-1 win over St. Johns

The Northview Wildcats moved to 20-0 overall and 6-0 in the NHC after defeating the St. Johns TIatans 4-1 Saturday night at Tam-o-Shanter.

With the score deadlocked at 0 in the second period, Tyler Puhl found Brandon Snead for a power play goal and a 1-0 Cats lead. St. Johns would answer with a power play goal of their own to tie it at 1. The Wildcats would take the lead for good as hard work by Tyler Cook and Bob Napierala set up a nice backhand goal from Mark Hall and a 2-1 lead after 2 periods of play.

The Cats picked up the intensity in the 3rd and were rewarded with a 5 on 3 opportunity. After a time out for strategy the Cats went out and completely improvised. Eamonn Reynolds’ cross ice pass found the waiting stick of Snead who slapped it home for a 3-1 lead. Minutes later Kyle Hymore’s great individual work out of the corner was rewarded with a goal to make it 4-1. The Cats would milk the rest of the clock as great team play from all 3 lines and the defensive unit helped Craig Trego pick up the win.

The Cats will travel to Meadville Pennsylvania next week before returning home to face St. Francis on Friday January 25th.
