by Coach Elliott on December 2, 2006

The Wildcats opened up league play in defense of their league championship with perennial power Bowling Green Saturday night with a hard faught 3-0 win. Matt Cook, Carter Bourland and Freshman George Wilkinson scored while Craig Trego made 31 saves in the shutout win.
With the score deadlocked at zero Matt Cook made a great individual play to give the Cats a 1-0 lead near the 10 minute mark of the second period. Cook then fed Bourland on a Face off for a power play goal to give the Cats a 2-0 lead after 2. In the third period Tyler Cook took a big hit to get the puck to Wilkinson. Wilkinson playing his first game as a Wildcat made it a memorable one with the goal to give the Cats a 3-0 lead. Trego made 31 saves, many of them quality, including a break away save with 5 minutes left to preserve his 2nd shutout of the season and push his record to 5-0.
Northview next league game will be against St. John’s next Saturday night at 7 at Tam-o-Shanter. They will also host Upper Arlington on Sunday at noon in a non-league game.
