Puhl Excels at Northview

Friday, March 7th, 2008

Tyler Puhl has already accomplished something not many other athletes in school history have done. He has made it to states in 2 different team sports. Earlier this year Tyler was the starting goalie on the Northview soccer team that lost in the state semi-final in overtime. He was also a part of the 2006 hockey team that lost in the state final in overtime. This Saturday he will get a chance to make it back for a 3rd chance as he helps lead his Cats into the district final versus the Knights of St. Francis.

Tyler came to the Cats after a very disappointing hockey season as a 8th grader. He was cut from a travel team because it was deemed he was not good enough. Apparently that coach did not see what the coaches at Northview saw. Tyler made the Varsity team his freshmen year and has been a fixture on the blue line ever since. His steadily improving play has made him a dominate force both defensively and as a top offensive contributor. Tyler leads the team in assist this season with 48 and went over the 100 point mark in all-time points. Recently he passed his coach Steve Elliott and 98’ graduate Justin Bender making his 110 career point 2nd all-time in scoring by a Northview defensemen. He did it in true Tyler Puhl fashion, making big plays in big games. His end to end rush in the District semi-final versus St. Johns resulted in a game winning goal for his Cats. He also contributed 2 key assist during that game.

As a coach I have the opportunity to coach some great kids and great players. This season I have the pleasure of leaning on 2 unbelievable young men. Tyler and Eamonn Reynolds are both 4 year letter winners who have shown and unbelievable pride for their school and team. It has quite frankly made my job easy and extremely rewarding. As we move into the last weeks as coach and player I just wanted to say thanks for giving me your all, and I love you!. Good luck in all that you do, and we will miss you more than you know. Congratulation on a incredible career and good luck the rest of this season!

Hey Northview Alumni!

Tuesday, February 19th, 2008

This year there is going to be 3 age groups to show your love for Northview hockey during the alumni tournament. They will all take place at Tam-o-Shanter during March and early April.

For the 35+ age group the dates are March 14th -16th
For the 25+ dates are March 28th- 30th
For the 18+ the Dates are April 4th- 6th

Please send an email to the website through the contact us with your Name, graduating year, Phone # and email address. If you have any special request (i.e. you are 37 and you would like to play on the 25+ team) let me know and I will do my best to accommodate as much as possible.

After last years debacle I am not going to try and do much at all. Teams will be made up off age groups as best as possible and we will try and have some fun. I will be most directly working with the 25+ team but I will not coach. The older team and the younger team will have someone in charge of collecting funds, and jersey’s, but again there will not be a coach necessarily. Fees will be determined after we see the numbers. All fees will be due before you step on the ice. If you do not pay you will not play unless you clear it with Coach Cooper or myself. We have been billing players after the tournament is over and it has been a mess. So again send me an email, even if you have already done it once please do it again, and we will get back to you soon.
