All Phil Bowles does is win games

by Coach Elliott on January 25, 2012

Phil Bowles started his high school career at St. Francis playing goaltender his freshman year for the junior varsity Knights. When he 1st came to the Cats for his Sophomore season he earned most of his playing time with the Wildcats JV. He saw action in just 2 varsity contest going 1 and 0.

Last year for his Junior season he and his stable mate and fellow senior Austin Gryca split time and Bowles apeared in 16 games. He went 12-2 during last season and tied the single season record for shutouts with 7 while posting a 1.28 goals against avg. and a 93.5 save percentage. This season he has picked up right where he left off. through 12 starts he is 9-1-2 with 5 shutouts a 1.16 goals against avg. and a 94.9 save %. With about 6 starts left in his high school career Phil is 2nd all-time in save % at 94.1 and 2nd in GAA at 1.20. Phil is also in striking distance of the all-time shutouts record of 15 held by assistant goalie coach Craig Trego and will finish in the top 8 in wins.

This past weekend Bowles picked up 2 more wins and another shutout as the Cats won the Midwinter Classic in Chicago. At 18-1-3 the Cats remain #2 in the state poll and look for a strong finish in league and state play.

Gongratulatins Phil on a record breaking career and good luck with the rest of your senior season!!
