A Familiar name and number return for the Cats!

by Coach Elliott on December 14, 2010

From the 1980 season until the early 1990?s there was one constant with the Northview Wildcat hockey teams. That constant was the #15 jersey and the Crandall family name that came along with it. 5 Brothers Dave, Bob, Matt, Dan and Kevin would all don the black and goal and help lead many of the finest teams in school history. For 13 straight years from 1980-93 a Crandall was part of the Varsity team all wearing that same number.  They were a part of 215 wins, 6 final four appearances and 2 state runner-up teams. Kevin, Dan, Matt and Dave rank 11th, 13th, 18th and 22nd respectively in all-time scoring in team history. After the 1993 season in honor of the family and the tragic death of Dave the #15 that they all wore was retired by former Coach Jim Cooper and the Northview hockey family.

That was until this year. The #15 jersey and the Crandall name are back with Bob’s son Drew Crandall wearing the old familiar number. Coaches Kevin Kross, Doug Carter, Steve Elliott and Mike Jones all played at some point with the Crandall brothers and now are coaching the family name that has so much meaning to Northview Hockey!

This past weekend the Cats opened up their regular season and Drew scored his 1st goal the eventual game-winning goal as the Cats won the consolation game versus Lake Catholic to earn the team a 3rd place finish in the elite Tournament. This weekend Drew will get the chance to experience his first league games. On Friday night the Cats host Bowling Greeen before a showdown with long time rival St. Johns on Saturday. Both games have a 7  O’Clock start time @ Tam-o-Shanter.
