After Slow Start Cats rebound to win 2 straight

The 2016-17 Wildcats kicked off their season over the Thanksgiving holiday break with 2 of the best teams in the state of Ohio in St. Francis and St. Edwards. While they improved over the 2 games they were on the losing end both times. Career 1st goals from Edward Lammie and Jake Ruehle were all they could muster in a 5-0 & 5-2 loss to the Catholics. St. Andrews from Toronto Canada made it 3 losses in a row to open up the season. The Cats seemed to find themselves during the 2nd period and scored 5 of the games final 6 goals in the 6 to 5 defeat. Trevor Klee’s Hat trick paced the offense along with the seasons first from Yaseen Mustapha and Career first from Justin Maroszek as the Cats kept it close right up till the end. Coach Elliott picked up his first win as a head coach and the Cats got in the win column in Sundays final game versus Gilmour Academy. Mason Snyder stopped all but 1 shot for his first win in nets and the Cats got 2 goals from Zach Doner. Sam Sparmblecks scored his career 1st and Maroszek’s scored his 2nd in 2 days. A single goal from Brad Crandall finished off the scoring and paced the Cats a 5 to 1 win. A 1-3 start to the season isn’t exactly what the Cats were looking for, but steadily improving play readied the Cats for league play.

This past Friday night the Cats traveled to Findlay for the league opener at the Cube. Chase Ortmans career 1st opened the scoring and Brad Crandall blasted a long shot late in the period to give the Cats a 2 to 0 lead after 1. Maroszek kept his strong early season play going with his 3rd goal and goalie Johny Rady kept the Trojans down all night. A bad bounce off defenseman Alex Zuchowski late in the 3rd while on a 5 on 3 penalty kill was all Rady allowed as Northview went to 1 and o in league play with a 3 to 1 win.
