2nd Generation Carter looking for unfinished business

by Coach Elliott on February 27, 2012

The Carter family is 1 of the more well known names in Sylvania Wildcat hockey history. They have seen a lot of big games and been a part of a lot of big wins. They have been in 2 state final games with Dalton in 2010 and his father Roy in 1982. Uncle Doug (Current Northview Assistant) helped the Cats to back to back league championships and final four appearances in 1986 & 87. But there is one victory that has alluded this hockey family and the Northview Hockey family. With a victory in last nights 2nd round of the districts the Cats have pushed their win streak to 14 straight games in claiming both the league regular season and league playoff championships. To claim that ultimate victory they will have to push it to 18 games.

Dalton came to the Cats for his freshman season where he started as a defenseman. For his Sophomore season he was moved up to center and has taken off. During that Sophomore season Dalton registered 28 points and finished 3rd on the team in scoring. He also helped lead the Cats into the state finals where they eventually lost 4 to 1. Last year Dalton again recorded 28 points as the Cats claimed the league playoff championship over eventual state champion St. Francis. This year Dalton has taken his game to another level. His 31 goals not only lead his team but his 52 point is closing in on doubling his previous 2 seasons combined. Recently Dalton went over the 100 career point mark. Last week the other head coaches recognized his efforts as he received 1st team honors and was awarded Player of the year in the northwest hockey conference. Someday Dalton will get a chance to look back on those individual honors and feel proud, but for now his focus is on accomplishing that unfinished team goal his Father started 30 years ago.

Congratulations Dalton on carrying on the family name with pride and good luck as you head into the last weeks of your Senior season!!
